MULTI-CULTURAL, WE ARE ONE" FESTIVALIN HISTORIC EATONVILLE, FLORIDA
The Metropolitan Orange Democratic Black Caucus (MODBC) is preparing for its first annual community festival, free admission to the general public. The We Are One Festival will be a multi-cultural, community celebration to thank voters, politicians and everyone in the community for their participation in the 2008 electoral process. People of all heritages and party affiliations came together as one community to select Senator Obama as President-Elect, as well as many state and local officials. The MODBCs Festival will be afamily friendly event with entertainment, music, food, local and state elected officials/candidates of all party affiliations which will take place in historic Eatonville, Florida on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 10:00am-6:00pm.

The "We Are One" festival was initially scheduled for January 3 but was postponed due to overwhelming response from the community. It was announced on January 12, 2009, the Presidential Inaugural Celebration event at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, January 18had been named We Are One (http://www.pic2009.org.) It is now time to come together as our community, state and nation embarks on a new journey and new challenges that impacts everyone; we as citizens of the United States need to take the time to embrace Unity in our Diversity. MODBC We Are One Event is registered with www.mybarackobama.com.

The MODBC is reaching out to the multi-cultural population at large, because this event will require support from all segments of the Central Florida community (Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc.) corporations, businesses, including the media, churches/congregations, andresidents of all ethnic backgrounds (African-Americans, Hispanics, Haitian, Caucasian, Asian, etc.) Anticipated attendance of at least 10,000 people for this debut event.

The "We Are One" Festival will be the first of many FREE, family oriented events, workshops, as well as other activities to educate, empower and assist local residents to better understand the issues and amendments for upcoming local, state and federal elections. The secondary mission of MODBC is to keep the Eatonville office open as an ongoing resource in this metropolitan community which is essential due to the importance of the I-4 Corridor.
