Fresh from the 2011 Australian Carlos Santana tour as support act, Aria Award nominated WATUSSI are ready to rock Adelaide with their sultry Afro-Colombian rock and roots sound & soulful rhythms!

Formed in 2005 by a culturally diverse, musically inclined bunch of boys from Bondi Beach, the eight-piece blends the musical heritage of Colombian-born lead singer Oscar Jimenez, together with Afro-Caribbean percussion, raw rock guitar riffs, thumping bass and a three-piece horn section.

Over the last six years Watussi have emerged as one of Sydney’s most popular live bands thanks to their charismatic and uplifting performances.

In 2008 Watussi were nominated for an ARIA award for their debut album ‘Tequila Sangre y Fuego’ (‘Tequila, Blood & Fire’), which achieved critical acclaim both in Australia and overseas – so much so that when the album fell into the hands of legendary producer and former member of Roxy Music, Brian Eno, he personally selected the band to support Seun Kuti, when he curated the inaugural Luminous Festival at Sydney Opera House in 2009.

As well as being regular fixtures in the Australian music scene, Watussi have toured extensively on an international scale and were recently the support act for Carlos Santana's 2011 Australia tour! Check out their music at www.watussi.com.au!
