Chavez Jr vs Martinez: Sergio's Team Talking Fights with Mayweather, Pacquiao, Ward For the Future

Sergio Martinez adviser Sampson Lewkowicz says that his fighter has three major fights in mind for the future -- if the weights are right. Sure, Sergio has a pretty important and big fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday night,

Sergio would fight, according to Lewkowicz:

Manny Pacquiao at 152 pounds
Floyd Mayweather at 154 pounds
Andre Ward at 160 pounds

Pacquiao has said he doesn't want to fight over 147 and the highest limit he's ever been in the ring with was 150, which he did recently offer to Miguel Cotto, and that was turned down.

Mayweather most recently fought Cotto at 154, and I could imagine him facing Martinez at that weight if it made sense for Floyd financially. Team Martinez insists that 154 is still Sergio's real fighting weight, but the money has been there at 160.

Ward won't be going down to 160 because he doesn't have to, and Martinez's team has zero interest in going up to 168. Lewkowicz also indicates that a catchweight -- such as 164 -- wouldn't be good enough to face Ward. It's a fair enough ask, though. Ward just had Chad Dawson come down to his weight. What I don't think is fair is actually expecting someone to do it, or getting upset if they don't or would not.

At 37, and seemingly without that desire to hang around forever, I think it's obvious that Martinez is itching for these big fights. A win over Chavez Jr would make him something more of a money player than he's ever been before.

This is just me throwing one in, but what about Canelo Alvarez? It's not like Golden Boy and DiBella don't work together, and can you imagine the hype if Sergio beat Chavez, and then Canelo took a crack at Sergio?
