Founded by former Dance Theater of Harlem member Fabian Barnes, the Washington Reflections Dance Company has been praised for its display of “power and centrifugal force … mile-high legs … [and] soaring leap[s]” (The Washington Post). The company uses dance to add a uniquely African-American voice to the nation’s rich cultural landscape and aims to strengthen the local and national dance communities by broadening the cultural dialogue and promoting the voice of the inner city in that discourse. “Full of clean lines and crisp jumps” (The Washington Post), the company “perform[s] Olympian solos with marvelous precision” (New York Times).
