Come and go as you please to a blow-out comedy block party!
WIT’s IMPROV-A-PALOOZA! comedy festival event has grown exponentially over the past four years. What started out as a bunch of slap-dash ten-minute improv bits on a Saturday evening has exploded into a three-day marathon with over a hundred shows featuring hundreds of improvisers.
IMPROV-A-PALOOZA! features classic shows from the past such as “Bad Walken,” where every player in the show is Christopher Walken; “La Famila,” where all the improvisers have to be actual Italians and begin the show by handing out cannoli to everyone in the audience; and WIRT: Washington Improv Radio Theater, a take-off on the golden years of radio. It also provides a showcase for dozens of new pieces like “International Haus of Gaga,” where you meet the team of creative geniuses behind the world's most sensational performer and “Date Tara,” where one lucky audience member will come up and spend a first date pizza dinner with improviser Tara Maher.
