Wartime Britain Through the Diaries of Mass Observation April 16, 2009

Mass Observation – a unique survey of everyday life in Britain – was set up on the cusp of the Second World War. Today it is archived at the University of Sussex. Much of the material takes the form of daily personal diaries such as Nella Last's War, made into a TV drama as Housewife 49 starring Victoria Wood.
