John Schuchardt was co-founder in 1990, with his wife (Carrie), of The House
of Peace in Ipswich, MA--to care for victims of war. An attorney and former
Marine officer, he has been active in the Plowshares nuclear abolition
movement, Veterans for Peace and peace initiatives in Viet Nam, Nicaragua,
Japan, Yugoslavia & Iraq.

John has stated that he wants to "have a conversation with the congregation
about the foundations of 'endless war against invisible enemies' (Howard
Zinn): the allure/myth/attraction of the false picture of war; "waving the
bloody shirt", so that aggression may be called defense; the move to
extermination bombing in World War II; the embrace of genocide at Hiroshima
& Nagasaki; the destruction of the World Trade Centers; the schisms in the
peace movement and our resulting failure to address the deepest illusions
continuing to hold us in thrall to the evil of mass murder."
