Wang Yigang's FIRST Solo Exhibition in Singapore 王易罡首次新加坡个展 December 3, 2008

HIGHLY ACCLAIMED CHINESE CONTEMPORARY ART GURU, WANG YIGANG (王易罡 )TO HOLD FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION IN SINGAPORE

Wang Yigang (王易罡), renowned for his provoking and impactful style, is well sought after by auction houses and collectors both in Asia and many other parts of the world today. Had just being presented The Outstanding Contribution to Contemporary Art Award by US Asian Cultural Academy (UACA) in 2007. He will be presenting his latest works at his first solo exhibition in Singapore titled "This is not Chinese landscape" 《这不是中国山水》from 4-9 December 2008.

《这不是中国山水》王易罡个人油画作品展将于2008年12月4日至9日在新加坡举行。王易罡曾参加国内最高规格的中国油画百年回顾展、全国青年美展、中国油画双年展等，多次获奖，并在2007年获得了由美国亚洲文化学院(UACA)授予的“当代艺术杰出贡献奖”，他还远赴美国、德国、西班牙、日本、韩国等国家参加重要展览和艺术博览会。作为中国较早期的先锋艺术家，王易罡经历了抽象、表现、波普、拼贴等多种西方现代美术样式实践，本次新加坡个展将展出的是王易罡的19幅最新及其经典作品从山水、人体、时尚商品三个元素构成的冲突画面中，探讨中国文化的现状和未来走向。

Chinese landscapes, Bodies and Commodities, how do they come together to become ART?

Wang Yigang's Chinese Landscape Painting series from 2007 feature three repeatedly used elements: classic Chinese landscapes, bodies and commodities. However, these three elements do not synergise harmoniously with one another. Instead, they conflict with one another to send across a strong message that Chinese culture has been influenced by contemporary life and society. But putting the fashionable pictures and Chinese landscape together, there are scenes of disturbed visuality and impact which makes his collection more interesting and provoking.
