Wall of Sounds presents...

An afternoon of free workshop taster sessions for all the family. Try out some of the autumn series of Learning & Participation courses at Band on the Wall. Part of a great Manchester arts and culture event the Manchester Weekender that runs from 11-14th October.

13.00 Harmonica: Learn a tune in 50 minutes!

Easy to learn, fun to play, cheap to get started on and widely used in many styles from folk to classical; with a Hamonica you carry a world of music in your pocket. Harmonica ace Mat Walklate will dispel the myths and reveal the mysteries. (Harps on sale at £3 a pop).

14.00 Pandeiro: (the ubiquitous Brazilian tambourine). Caution – Pandeiro playing is seriously addictive!

What is the Pandiero?

The Pandiero resembles a tambourine, is the unofficial national instrument of Brazil and provides the backing track to everyday life in the birth place of Samba. It is used in almost every style of Brazilian music from traditional to contemporary and popular styles and is an integral part of Brazilian culture.

15.00 Tap Rhythm Project (danced Jazz improvisation, shoes provided).

This event showcases some of the eclectic mixture of music, dance, and production based courses and classes for adults and young people at Manchester's favourite small venue, Band on the Wall.
