Showcasing the power of imagination, the annual VSA Start with the Arts Festival engages children of all ages and abilities with hands-on arts experiences and family-friendly performances. Performances include: ILL-Abilities dance crew, who offer a high-energy that encourages audience participation: Jadoo, featuring Joshua Routh, who uses masks, mime, and amazing stunts; Company d, a nationally recognized dance company featuring young adults with Down syndrome; and Michael “Blindcat” McIntire, an accomplished musician and composer, who offers an eclectic blend of traditional and original bluegrass. Art activities include creating percussion instruments out of everyday materials, learning improv acting, designing collages, exploring creative dance movements, and creating mixed-media miniature works of art!
