Attend this new author series: Voices of the World. We invite international writers of fiction, poetry, and memoir to the World Affairs Council to read from their work and discuss their writings and the cultures they reflect.

Our first author in the series will be Musharraf Ali Farooqi. Listen, learn, discuss and mingle over delicious food and wine as Mr. Farooqi’s reading and discussion also explore the tradition of oral storytelling in Pakistan and India.

He will read from and discuss his critically acclaimed translation of the historical Islamic and Urdu classic, The Adventures of Amir Hamza. This grand epic from the Islamic cultures, compiled from a thousand years of oral stories, has been likened in significance to Homer's Odyssey, the legends of King Arthur, and The Arabian Nights.
