Vocalist Kat Parra: "Sephardic Music Experience" November 13, 2008

Join Vocalist Kat Parra's for a special concert of all-new music entitled "The Sephardic Music Experience". The concert is part of the Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival, and will follow directly after the showing of a Ladino film. Kat was awarded a Zellerbach Foundation Grant specificially for the her exploration and development of new Sephardic musical material for concert performances. Four renowned arrangers have taken ancient sephardic songs from the middle ages and modernized them using elements of jazz, afro-cuban, middle-eastern and afro-peruvian music. Kat sings all the material in the original Ladino language of the ancient Sephardic jews.

Featuring Murray Low (piano), Peter Barshay (bass), Paul Van Wageningen (drums), Katja Cooper (percussion) and Masaru Koga (flute, shakuhachi).
