Equally known for his expansive repertoire and passionate interpretations, Vladimir Feltsman never ceases to amaze. Having arrived in the United States from Russia in the summer of 1987. Mr. Feltsman's American debut recital in Carnegie Hall New York that same year immediately established him as a major pianist on the American scene. Since then he has become a regular guest artist with every major orchestra in the United States and on major recital series and summer festivals here and abroad.

Feltsman's return Philadelphia offers a program highlighed by Schumann's Carnaval. This extraordinary work consists of 22 musical vignettes all constructed from three tiny motifs whose notes are derived from the name of a little German town, Asch. (Today it is As, just over the border in the Czech Republic, near Bayreuth, Germany). This was where Schumann's current flame, Ernestine von Fricken, came from, that is before he turned his attention away from Ms.Fricken and towards Clara Wieck.
