Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Sangeet Samaroah 2009. Vishnu Digambar Jayanti is one of the oldest and most prestigious Music Festivals of Delhi. It is jointly organised by Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and Saraswati Samaj in memory of Late Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, a legendary figure who initiated the renaissance of Indian Classical Music almost a century ago. It is perhaps entirely due to his efforts that classical music became popular among the general public. Since its inception, Vishnu Digambar Jayanti is one of the few festivals in which all the top musicians across the country have performed as homage to Panditji. Many established senior artists have had their maiden performances in Delhi on this platform. Young and upcoming artists are featured regularly at the festival which also features a Karnatic musician every year. Day 1: Kalapini Komkali - Vocal. Sanjay Deshpande - Tabla.
