Virginia State Open Swing Dance Championships September 28, 2006

VSO has been a tradition for nearly two decades in the Washington, DC Area. Started by Craig Hutchinson, this event has always been flavored with a variety of Swing styles. Lindy Hop, West Coast, Shag, Hustle, and Hand Dance have always had a home at VSO. Last year event organizers Barry Durand and Jane Ford took over management of VSO and the event was one of the best Lindy versus Westie events ever.

VSO is back and running strong at a new hotel - the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport which has excellent space, easy access, and for those flying in, its right near the airport! This year VSO is being run by Barry Durand, and Jane Ford.

Come in early on Thursday night for a pre-event dance party. Then plan to take workshops, watch competition and dance, dance, dance. Friday night will feature 2 ballrooms of dancing with Lindy & West Coast Swing. The big Lindy Hop competition will be Friday night. TO TOP IT OFF WE HAVE A THE FABULOUS BOILERMAKER JAZZ BAND PLAYING IN THE MAIN BALLROOM FRIDAY NIGHT. Saturday during the day will be Pro-Am Competition and plenty of workshops. Saturday night will feature the NASDE divisions of Classic and Showcase and the main ballroom will be jamming with West Coast and Hustle mix. Sunday features the finals competition as well as the famous LINDY VS WESTIE INVITATIONAL JACK AND JILL. It will be a FUN weekend of your favorite hobby - Dance!
