On April 9, 1948 members of the Stern Gang, headed
by Menachem Begin, and Irgun, Zionist terror gangs,
attacked the peaceful village of Deir Yassin killing more
than a hundred of the village's residents and carrying
out atrocities. Zionist forces paraded captured Palestinians
on trucks as victory trophies through the streets of West
Jerusalem and then subsequently executed them.
News of the brutal assault of Deir Yassin was spread
to feed panic among the indigenous Palestinian population
to facilitate the Zionists in their ethnic cleansing campaign,
known to Palestinians as "The Catastrophe" or "Al Nakba."
In all, 675 Palestinian villages and towns were depopulated
during this campaign of terror - creating some 700,000 to one
million Palestinian refugees - and more than 70 massacres
and atrocities took place.
