The poetic sceneries of Edo Japan portrayed on these prints, along with bird-and-flower prints and actor prints, capture not only the views of Edo Japan through the eyes of its people, but also the aesthetic sentiment of the American who collected these prints during the tumultuous years of the early 20th century.
