Considered one of Mexico's best contemporary composers, guitarist and cantautor Victor Martinez' music has "an aesthetic vision: the song is art, it is the sound and it is word," and he has performed his art form across Mexico, the Caribbean and at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Contemporary Oaxacan music is rooted in the folk rhythms and traditions of southern Mexico.
