1090 Club (from Montana)
"This band hits you in the face with a hearty, forceful blend of crashing drums, keys and choral vocals with their track “Gypsea” in a Bowie-like, Arcade Fire manner. This track’s steady pace emits a hint of the ominous, but 1090 Club are far from dark, as evidenced by their other tune, “Some Equals One,” which sounds decidedly dreamy in comparison. The vocals are muffled as if they’re coming through a radio and there are some interesting, spacey synth sounds under the electro-drums and xylophone twinkles. It has a breezy edge that stops all these instruments from being too weird or simply misplaced. Finally, “Cheers to Us” introduces a slippery violin and more hollow vocals, making them a touch reminiscient of Bright Eyes’ earlier incarnation. Certainly an intriguing band, 1090 Club should put on an interesting show if their live performance stands up to the recorded material."
