Veterans Open Mic Night
at the Mercury Café
Sponsored by Colorado Veterans Alliance

Colorado Veterans Alliance is sponsoring a Veterans Open Mic Night for Veterans of all conflicts and eras to share their memories, poems, letters and stories of time spent in service to America.

Captain Rick Duncan, USMC (Ret.), disabled Iraq Veteran and Founder of Colorado Veterans Alliance, remarked “At this time in America’s history, it is vital that the people who are most effected by war, our Veterans, our Troops and their families, be heard and allowed a place in the national dialog.”

In addition to the evening of poetry, letters and personal narratives, Colorado Veterans Alliance is suggesting that those attending please bring items like paperback books, DVDs, crackers, bags/cans of tuna, powdered Gatorade, canned air, beef jerky, chewing gum, hard candy, etc.

We will be boxing these items into care packages and sending them to the soldiers and Marines currently in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“This event will allow Veterans to connect across generations and will have the added affect of letting civilians see Veterans in a totally new light - as creative, passionate people instead of just “the troops” as we are accustomed to in the media,” Duncan added.

The forum is open to the public and the media is invited to attend.
