Veterans Awareness & Airborne Forces Week - Portsmouth July 4, 2008

Description:
This is a nine day event starting with seven days at Fort Nelson on 5th July. It begins with a weekend of celebrations including military music and flypasts followed by five days of see the artillery and meet the veterans from the 20th Century conflicts. The second weekend 12th/13th is on Southsea Common and comprises two days of spectacular arena events including the Red Devils,helicopter flypasts, battle re-enactments and music from the Royal Marines, the Parachute Regiment and others. Static attractions include exhibits, sideshows and shopping. All TA units stationed in Hampshire will be on site to celebrate 100 years of the TA. Both Fort Nelson and Southsea is free to all and all are welcome. Southsea will have memorial services, parades and badge presentations on both days so Veterans and Standard Bearers are welcome, medals are to be encouraged.
