We are pleased to invite you to attend our Vesak Celebration to celebrate the Day of Vesak. 2009 marks the 2253rd Year of the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of the Buddha Gautama, founder of Buddhism, and the 10th anniversary of this sacred day being recognized by the United Nations.
The Vesak Celebration is an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to rejoice in a day of peace and harmony. It is a chance for all of us to reflect on Buddha's Wisdom and Compassion, find peace within ourselves, and spread Buddha’s message of peace, love and harmony for the welfare of humanity.

For the past seven years, the Vesak Celebration is an annual event organized by Lieu Quan Buddhist Cultural Center and International Children Assistance Network (ICAN). Among our principal goals is to contribute to the cultural diversity of our great nation in general and to the Bay area in particular. The celebration will be blessed with the presence of Buddhist Sangha from many Southeast Asian nationalities (Laotian, Cambodian, Sri Lankan, Tibetan, Thai) - a great symbol of Unity and Peace.
