The Honolulu Chamber Music Series presents the sixth concert in their 2006-2007 season.

The Vermeer features Shmuel Ashkenasi on violin, Mathias Tacke on violin, Richard Young on viola, and Marc Johnson on cello. The Vermeer stands out as one of the august quartets of their generation. With performances in practically every major city in North and South America, Europe, the Far East, and Australia, they have achieved an international stature as one of the world’s finest ensembles. Join us for an opportunity to hear one of the best in its final season of touring.

Formed in 1969 at Marlboro, its members are originally from Israel, Germany, New York, and Nebraska, thus providing a unique blend of musical and cultural backgrounds. Switzerland’s Suisse writes, “Out of this alchemy is born a thing of beauty which one can define, without hesitation, as perfection.”
