Panelist bios:
Kurt Binder (moderator) - Ernst & Young:Partner in the Technology and Consumer Products practice. Currently, Kurt works in the Strategic Growth Markets group at Ernst
& Young principally focusing on early stage and V.C. backed companies. He
is experienced in working with software and other technology companies. Most of
his clients are primarily technology and service related companies including: Newport
Corporation, Quantum
Fuel Systems Technologies Inc., DealerSocket, Vizio Inc., and Tickets.com.
Walter Schindler - Sail Venture Capital, Managing Partner:Former Managing Partner of
the Orange County office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He founded SAILs predecessor
partnership in 2000. He served as interim Chairman and CEO of ORYXE Energy
International. Walter received B.A. and PhD degrees from Yale and his law
degree from Harvard University.
Jay Zoellner - EPS Corp, President and CEO:More than 25
years of operating and management experience in the energy business, having
started his career as an officer in the US Navys nuclear submarine service. In
private industry at ABB and Enron, he succesfully grew his business units
through mergers and acquisitions, sales and new services. His experience
includes power plant operation; construction and consulting; high voltage
substation design/build projects for major western utilities; major steam
system and generator replacements; and multiple energy efficiency projects at
commercial and manufacturing facilities throughout the country. Since founding
EPS Corporation, he has successfully guided the consistent growth of the
company to own and operate clean generation, provide energy efficiency and
energy intelligence services nationally, and finance operations through cash
flow, various debt transactions, and equity.
Chuck Swanson - Ernst & Young: Chuck is a resident expert in clean tech and energy issues for Ernst & Young clients. Chuck has 17 years of experience understanding the unique issues surrounding a variety of industries from technology to energy to real estate to aerospace and defense.Chucks former and
current clients include: Temple-Inland, Forestar Real Estate Group, Activant
Solutions, Cirus Logic, AmerisourceBergen, ARCO, Black and Decker, BP, General
Petroleum, Lubys, McDonnell Douglas, Southwest Marine, Space Applications,
Watson Cogeneration LLC, Rainier Petroleum, Palisades Gas and Wash, Custom
Building Products, Valero Energy, and USA Petroleum.
