Language Integrated Query is likely to be the feature of Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework V3.5 that has the most impact on developers. Through new language capabilities in C# V3.0 and Visual Basic 9.0, SQL-like constructs are added to the language to facilitate a consistent and extensible mechanism for querying different data sources. In this session, we’ll look at the new language features that LINQ provides and also explore the three aspects of LINQ that come with Visual Studio 2008, namely LINQ to Objects, LINQ to XML and LINQ to SQL Server.

Mike Taulty works in the Developer and Platform Group at Microsoft in the UK where he has spent the past few years helping developers understand and get the best from the Microsoft platform. Prior to this, Mike spent 3 years with Microsoft Consulting Services as a consultant on developer technologies.
