Gregory Maqoma is one of the most talented choreographers and performers to emerge from the new generation of South African artists. Influenced by his childhood in Soweto, and his studies in Brussels under Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Maqoma finds his expression in movement, design and the spoken word.

"In a work of considered input, he interweaves the choreographic style of influences in his life, from the flat-foot beating of Akram Khan's kathak fusion, to the Congolese Faustin Lineykula, and his old friend Vincent Mantsoe. IT IS A BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL PIECE"
BUSINESS DAY, SOUTH AFRICA

Last year he received rave reviews in Paris and sold out his performance at Sadler's Wells in London. After recently dancing around the world with Akram Khan in Steve Reich's Variation for vibes, piano and strings, he now returns to the UK to tour his new solo work, accompanied by four exceptional South African musicians. The evening Beautiful Me is a trilogy of works created by and with artists who inspire Maqoma, including Khan, Vincent Mantsoe, and Faustin Linyekula.
