Panel Discussion:
** Intersecting Experiences: Defining and Defying Common Language **

Join us for a discussion with a diverse panel of design, academic, human factors and development professionals to address issues of multi-disciplinary collaboration, experiences with user-centred design and the recent debate over the value of defining ourselves as "user experience professionals".

There is a growing consensus in business that the understanding of experiences, and the deliberate design of products or services to create positive experiences for people has social and economic benefits. From a practitioners perspective, the origins of professionals in this industry come from diverse backgrounds ranging from ergonomics/human factors, industrial design, computer sciences, branding, entertainment and business.

As such, designing of user experiences has emerged as a highly multi-disciplinary practice which benefits from collaboration diverse thinking and knowledge.

If we all have a common goal, the question is then do we have a common language and tools to collaborate. How can we build upon each other's skills and knowledge effectively without risk of misinterpretation or misdirection? This panel is comprised of members in our community that all deal with user experiences and are here to provide their perspectives to compare and contrast with each other's and your own definition of user experiences.
