Please join us at Trabant in Pioneer Square for a Valentine's card making party with chocolate, wine and coffee!

"From Your Valentine" Do you know where that phrase came from?
In Roman Times, Claudius determined that married men made poor soldiers. So, he banned marriage from his Empire. Valentine would marry young couples who came to him in secret. When Claudius found out about the secret nuptials, he gave Valentine a death sentence.

During the days that Valentine was imprisoned, he fell in love with the blind daughter of his jailer. His love for her miraculously healed her blindness. Before Valentine was taken to the guillotine, he penned a farewell message to her on red paper signed: "From Your Valentine". The phrase has been used on his day ever since.

Admission is arriving in Valentine’s Day costume, a bottle of red wine, a few chocolates and a small donation to pay for supplies.

Over the four years I’ve hosted this event it takes twists and turns. The concept has always been to hold a creative space for guests to make something heart-felt and personal. It has been sweet fun to make Valentines with friends and we ended up with outrageous Valentine's with feathered wings, sculpture Valentines, and cards with pencil eraser nipples and real garters sewn on! I will lay out my outrageous supply of pink/red craft paper, glitter, glue, envelopes, and whatever other frou frou stuff I have collected. Please bring your own craft stash and tools as well. This event will be the most creative if people come prepared with pictures and scraps to share with others.

Speaking of sharing……….
Oh! Don’t forget to bring chocolates or dessert and wine.
Sexy waiters will be on hand to pamper you with treats while you play.

Trabant Coffee & Chai House is graciously co-hosting the event this year. The space is perfect for a fashion shoot being so very white and modern. It inspired me to take a more exhibitionist take on amorous expression this year. I’ve been designing in a red vein and have collected some other arty friends who have made costumes, garments and accessories that need to be properly photographed. Photographer, Roberto Hogue will be running a photo shoot from 7:30-9:00ish (www.everyoneelse.com). If you ladies would like to sign up for some time in front of the camera, contact me and make sure your attire is flash-bulb worthy (meaning your costume is: evening wear or burlesque, red or white, over-the-top and cake on that mascara). Please avoid wearing your default black and dreary colors. We don’t want our Valentine celebration to look like a funeral in the pictures now do we? If you have the basics, and are willing to work it…I have plenty of hair accessories, etc. to play dress up with and get glamorous.

We are looking forward to sharing this special evening with anticipation and curiosity about what our collective creativity can look and feel like!

Lots of Love!!!!
Cleo, Sonja, Mike, Lucia and Trabant!
