The Vagina Monologues, originally created and performed by Eve Ensler, is based on the interviews she conducted with more than hundreds of women. The monologues were collected from many different women, ranging from young girls to elderly women, to women from diverse backgrounds with different experiences and lifestyles. Each of the women interviewed spoke to Eve about vaginas and discussed the experiences they had in their lives, which may have shaped their thoughts and opinions on hair, women, workshops, relationships, and intimacy.

The Vagina Monologues has since progressed into VDay, the worldwide social movement to stop violence against women and girls. Globally, women perform the monologues to help raise funds for organizations that are helping to put an end to violent acts against women.

Tickets are $10.00 each and will be available at the door each night of the performance. All of the proceeds will be donated to Bridges, a local non-profit agency, with offices located in Milford and Nashua, NH. Bridges is dedicated to helping victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Proceeds will also go to RAINN, one of the largest anti-sexual assault organizations in the nation with local chapters in the greater Boston area, and to the global campaign to end violence against women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Bridges will receive 60% of the proceeds; RAINN will receive 30% and the Village of Hope Project in the Congo will receive 10%.

The Vagina Monologues will be brought to the stage at the Milford Town Hall on March 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. and the Wilton Town Hall Theatre on March 8, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.
