About Jim Varnum :: Jim is a self-taught student of nature where his interests range from birds to plants to prairies. He and his wife Stephanie are conservation buyers of an old ranch at Clymer Meadow in Hunt County that they are restoring back to a native prairie. The Texas Nature Conservancy holds a conservation easement on the property.

Jim has major interests in land management and conservation. He currently serves on the boards of the Native Prairies Association of Texas and the Texas Land Trust Council. Jim is a North Texas Master Naturalist where he co-leads a prairie restoration project at Cedar Hill State Park. He also teaches and leads trail walks on birds, trees, wild flowers, prairies and the like.
