Ann Tanaka will present how to start plants from seeds, potting mix, fertilizer, watering, transplanting, plant care, and gentle pest control, focusing on leafy greens and tomatoes. She will also describe other things that are easy for the backyard gardener to grow in the ground, such as papaya, but will concentrate on container veggies. She will also share how she constructed her auto-drip system.
Ms. Tanaka is a Master Gardener under the University of Hawaii College of Agriculture and Human Resources. She also did a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer work a year teaching people researched-based information on home gardening.

She hopes to convey that she has no special skills, no background in farming, not much time, and only a tiny lot that is not conducive to gardening, but even she can grow something that is fresh and nutritious to eat. So if she can do it, so can you!
