Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story October 17, 2009

Opening the 2009-10 Merrimack Hall season is our first original production, “Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story,” written and researched by local playwright Ron Harris.

The play illustrates the rich history of Huntsville through the lives of real people who labored in the city’s textile mills.

Dramatizing real events that occurred at Merrimack Mills and the surrounding mill village where Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center is located today, the play traces the development of Child Labor Laws, mandatory school laws, and the socioeconomic impact on our city today.
