With the Animation and Gaming Industries booming exponentially, the global animation industry was estimated at USD 59 billion in 2008, and with a nearly 8 percent growth is targeted to reach USD 80 billion by 2010. Following the same pattern, the worldwide gaming industry stood at USD 21 billion in 2008 and is expected to reach USD 42 billion by 2010 with a projected annual growth of 25-30 percent. In both the industries, the development costs account in the range of 30-45 percent, which is quite a large share of the total numbers. On the contrary, Indian Share in both the industries is lagging behind, with numbers at in Animation and in Gaming. A key factor restricting the growth of both industries in India is the scarcity of skilled professionals. Increased focus on the needs of the segment by key stakeholders can help address these areas and lead to significant growth. To tap into these billion dollar industries, AAG has taken the initiative to increase the level of interaction between the industry and seasoned industry veterans to promote and spread awareness among the next generation students. AAG has developed a comprehensive training module that can result in bridging the demand-supply gap of skilled professionals. This will require industry support in the form of funding, and enabling environment for domestic market development that can further grow the opportunity.
