Norman Brown is well known on the big band circuit as a brilliant, versatile saxophonist. His career took off when in 1970 he joined the original Syd Lawrence band. He appeared frequently on ITV’s ‘Sez Lez’ shows and quickly became a prominent soloist in Syd’s band.

Norman has toured extensively with many top British and American artists such as; Tony Bennett, Jack Jones, Matt Monroe, Johnny Mathis, Vic Damone, Al Martino, Andy Williams, Frankie Laine and Bob Hope. He has worked extensively in TV and radio and earned a reputation as a great session musician working in studios across Europe and the UK.

Other bands include Andy Ross Orchestra (BBC Come Dancing Series), Freddie Staff Orchestra, BBC Radio 2 Big Band, Pete Long’s Band, Herb Miller, Ray McVay - (Miller UK), The Rat Pack, Peter Duchin Band, Don Lusher Orchestra, Nick Ross Orchestra, Jeff Hooper’s Swing Band. Norman was also lead alto with the Andy Prior Orchestra Recording TV shows and played in the ‘Sinatra at the Sands’ tour with the Nigel Hailwood Orchestra.

Equally Norman is at home performing in smaller ensembles around the North West such as the Munch Manship Octet and with Vinnie Parker in the duo ‘Tea with Norman and Vinnie’.
