University Lyric Opera: Little Women April 25, 2009

Two of the U's performing companies take on this classic coming of age story written by Louisa May Alcott about four New England sisters--Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. To summarize composer Mark Adamo's enthusiasm for an operatic Alcott, Jo's wild imagination and her haunting memories allow for an incredible musical score: abstract and tonal, poetic and vernacular, song and symphonic. This performance will charm you as well with its young, lively characters, antique locale, and sundry score.
