President Obama wants healthcare reform legislation passed within the year. What kind of system will we end up with? Individual mandates? A public option? Minor regulations on the market? Simply putting our trust in in private insurers to reduce costs on their own? Obama campaigned on universal healthcare, but what does that really mean? If it means insurance for 100 percent of the population with no barriers to coverage, then will any of these ideas work? In this panel discussion, the merits of a single-payer healthcare system will be discussed. On the panel are Jeff Muckensturm from Healthcare-NOW!, Bill Zoda, a human rights activists and union staff representative for healthcare workers at Temple University Hospital, and Marty Harrison, a political activist and registered nurse.
