Working on portraits raised questions like about the definition of the portrait — how central the face or the person must be on the photo so we consider it a portrait, how to handle “social discomfort” of making someone pose, candid shots vs. asking for permission.

Hwa Young suggested that for the next assignment pushing the portrait theme further to the AUTO-PORTRAIT. Hopefully, this will make us think about how we see ourselves and how this can be portrayed in a picture.
