The Underground at the Abrons series is proud to present an evening of music in which emerging artists take to the stage to explore discord and sound. The result: three artists presenting their own personal and wildly divergent approaches to the guitar. Jack Rose emerged from the drone collective Pelt as a powerful voice of the acoustic guitar. He is best known for his post-Fahey fusion of blues, folk, ragtime, and raga on lap steel guitars. Chris Forsyth is a founding member of Peeesseye, the iconoclastic transcontinental amalgam of minimalist rock, noise, folk, drone, psych, improv, sound poetry, and absurdity. The raw power and intuitive delicacy of his electric and acoustic six- and 12-string guitar eludes easy categorization. Brooklyn's Corridors (Byron Westbrook) constructs audio-video performances of processed guitar feedback and other instrumental recordings through a multi-channel environment. Perception is altered through the redistribution of sound and light in space.
