Uncle Earl is an all-female old-time music group that came together in Ann Arbor and has grown into a phenomenon. With a repertoire anchored by the powerful originals of K.C. Groves and a sound deepened by the recent addition of fiddling sensation Rayna Gellert, Uncle Earl offers an often moving show that incorporates traditional fiddle tunes, mountain harmonies, and Appalachian step-dancing. The Michigan roots music of Lansing's Steppin' in It has lifted spirits and set dancers in motion all over the area in recent months. Anything from blues to bluegrass, calypso to Cajun, and waltzes to western swing might show up on a Steppin' in It set list, and right now they're one of the hottest live bands in the state. Tonight's show brings together two groups that are true Michigan originals.
