Umang - Hindustani Music Recital by Sahana Banerjee (Sitar) & Arnab Chatterjee (Vocal). Sahana Banerjee, accomplished sitar player of the Rampur Senia gharana, was a child prodigy at the age of four. Daughter of Santhosh Banerjee, sitar and surbahar player, and vocal musician Chhabi Banerjee, Sahana's style combines the best of both. A recipient of the Pt. Nikhil Banerjee Challenge Trophy at the Dover Lane Music Conference (1990) in Kolkata, she performs regularly on All India Radio and Doordarshan, has done numerous stage performances in India and abroad, worked with Western musicians, such as Italian flautist Massimo Mercelli, and collaborated on a project with pianist Shani Diluka to present Franz Schubert meets Indian Classical Music'. Arnab Chatterjee, who received his early training in music from his musician father, Arun Kumar Chatterjee, of the Kirana gharana, and A. Kanan, began performing at a young age. A recipient of the National Talent Scholarship, Arnab won the gold medal along with his Sangeet Visharad. An A' grade performer on All India Radio and Doordarshan, Kolkata, Arnab is an alumnus of ITC's Sangeet Research Academy, and a teacher and performer on ICCR's panel. Currently attached to Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, Arnab has performed at various prestigious venues all over the country.
