UB40 is a popular dub/reggae pop music band formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band may be the world's most culturally diverse dub reggae band with musicians of English, Scottish, Irish, Yemeni and Jamaican parentage. Hailing from Birmingham, England, the English Beat (known simply as the Beat in England) has been on the music scene since 1979. Members of the band, particularly Dave Wakeling, went on to successful solo work as well as to work with other groups. Elan is the current lead singer of The Wailers.
