U Turn - Play. Writer: Aanand Mhasvekar. Director: Aanand Mhasvekar. Cast: Dr. Girish Oak and Ela Bhate. U-Turn is an award winning Marathi play. The theme of the play revolves around the companionship that a man and woman share and of and how their relationship goes through various ups and downs. The play revolves around two characters- the retired and divorced Major from the Indian Army and a widow. While reflecting their different attitudes towards life the play also questions the narrow Indian mentality regarding the concept of companionship. The two old people want to stay together but their children resist.
