Tyran Parke- A Little Knight Music….And Other Melodic Quests April 6, 2008

Riverside Theatres proudly presents one of Australia’s most charismatic leading men, Tyran Parke, in A LITTLE KNIGHT MUSIC…AND OTHER MELODIC QUESTS on Sunday 6 April for one performance only. This New York inspired one man show promises to entertain and delight all those cabaret and showbiz enthusiasts.
A talented storyteller, Tyran tells of being discovered in a jazz bar by Liza Minnelli, dining with Stephen Sondheim and singing himself out of Rikers Island maximum security prison. Each quest is celebrated in story and song, culminating in the quest to create the role of a lifetime - his award-winning portrayal of George Seurat in Sunday in the Park with George.
“It was the most amazing honour to spend time with Sondheim in both Sydney and New York,” said Tyran. “We talked a lot about how he works, and how 20 years after writing Sunday, it is still profoundly moving and very accessible to audiences in Sydney. Sondheim told me to write something myself, and which this cabaret is the first step”.
In A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Tyran descends into fantasy and becomes convinced he is the knight errant of cabaret. The self-styled Don Quixote sets out in search of adventures while battling the windmills of the mind. He sets out on a series of delightful musical quests which explore his childhood, showbiz career, aspirations and passion for music. Along the journey Tyran charges headlong into Gershwin, Sondheim, Lloyd Webber, Peggy Lee, U2, Dolly Parton and Playschool.

Having appeared in Listen to My Heart, Eurobeat, Oliver and The Sound of Music, Tyran has established himself as one of Australia’s finest young performers.
