After a successful monthly residency at Komedia in 2008, Woodland Recordings return in 2009 to showcase some stunning new music.

Mortis Tobias is the freaky alter ego of Lawry Joseph Tilbury of lo-fi experimental folk act Birdengine. On the return of this label showcase, Mortis Tobias will be debuting his gothic tinged electronic and ghostly sing-along to Brighton. In support for this evening comes Songs Of Our Lap and Animal Magic Tricks. With the addition of a cellist, Songs Of My Lap are gentle passages of guitar, with the overlaid vocals of Hancock cooing gently over the top. His presence as a solo artist is undeniable, and with the addition of the subtle overlays of the cello, it’s going to be a case of the calm before the storm... Frances Donnelly treats us to her DIY mashed-up sounds overlaid with vocals that recall in parts the work of Inca Ore, Grouper, Jessica Rylan (a.k.a. Can’t) and U.S Girls – or, for that matter, the earlier work of Scout Niblett.
