Newcastle Twestival (http://newcastle.twestival.com/) is part of a global event taking place on Thursday 12th February.

The Tynetwestival team will be updating thier blog every day to tell you what’s going to be taking place and what you can do to help; everyone involved in these events (and there are nearly 100 taking place around the world) is volunteering their time to make this happen. We’ll be asking for support in the coming days, and given the response so far I’m sure we’ll get it. (You can check out our blog at www.newcastle.twestival.com)

What’s it all about, then? Newcastle Twestival is more than a pint between a few folk who use Twitter; it’s a chance to be part of something bigger, to witness just how powerful and real Twitter’s influence can be. Because everyone running the event is a volunteer, all money raised goes directly to support charity: water projects http://www.charitywater.org/).

Who can come? Newcastle Twestival is the only event in the North East, so everyone in the region who loves to Twitter is welcome.
Where is it? The Others Rooms in Times Square, Newcastle. If you know your clubs, it’s the bar next to Digital. If you don’t, it doesn’t matter - the bar is two minutes walk from Central Station, next to the Centre For Life. And having been in there tonight, I can tell you it’s quite, quite gorgeous.

What will happen when I get there? Lots of things! We’ve plenty of ideas for the evening that we’ll confirm over the coming days, but above all it’s a chance for you to put real fleshy faces to avatars and @names, and be part of something quite special.

For now, put the date and time in your diary now and spread the word! If you’d like to get in touch, the options are near-limitless. Actually there are just two here, but that’s enough, isn’t it?
