Twisted Folk: The Revival Hour + Serafina Steer November 20, 2012

This Autumn Twisted Folk are incredibly excited to be taking out on tour a new collaboration between two very special artists plus very special guest Serafina Steer.

The Revival Hour

When John-Mark Lapham realised David Stith’s voice was exactly what was needed to finish a piece of music he’d been working on, neither knew the collaboration would work so well that they’d go on to strike up a partnership, name it The Revival Hour after a groundbreaking American evangelist radio show of the 1930s, and dedicate most of the next two years to invest their music with all the rousing and intimate emotion that such a name warranted.

The Revival Hour is the sound of adventurism; of deep, historical musical connections; of falling in and out of love; of bravery. Truly courageous in scope and spectacle they share an affinity with PJ Harvey, Dusty Springfield, The Knife, Antony Hegarty, Robert Wyatt, Here We Go Magic, Portishead.

Serafina Steer

Special guest tonight is the supremely gifted Serafina Steer whose Jarvis Cocker-produced album The Moths Are Real is due for release next year. Featuring everyone from Capitol K and The Boxettes to Seb Roachford and Steve Mackay, it confirms Steer as a singular talent possessing one of the most breath-taking voices we've heard for a long time.

Over the past five years, Twisted Folk Tours have become known for adventurous, hand- picked line-ups representing the best in modern folk and twisted popular music. Twisted Folk eschews the shiny and formulaic in favour of the stranger, lovelier, and more curious, bringing together artists with disparate backgrounds and influences, and fostering new collaborations and live experiences.
