In celebration of the All Star Game in Kansas City, archivist Randy Sowell will present letters, photographs, and artifacts from the holdings of the Truman Library that reflect Harry and Bess Truman's interest in baseball, as well as Mr. Truman's association with some of the game's greatest players. The program will also examine the history of the national pastime during Truman's Presidency--a period marked by such dramatic events as the integration of major league baseball by Jackie Robinson in 1947 and Bobby Thomson's pennant-clinching home run in 1951.
