Triple Feature: JURASSIC PARK, 1993, Universal, 127 min. During a preview tour of Jurassic Park, a theme park on an isolated island with cloned dinosaurs on display, a disastrous power breakdown causes the park’s vital electric fences to turn off - and the flesh-hungry dinosaurs to roam free. Skeptical paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Satler (Sam Neill and Laura Dern) and the grandchildren of the park owner must fend for themselves against these ancient predators in director Steven Spielberg’s bloody-good-fun, wildly pulse-pounding adventure! With Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough. [35mm]
THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, 1997, Universal, 129 min. Jeff Goldblum returns from JURASSIC PARK and is joined by Julianne Moore and Pete Postlethwaite in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Michael Crichton's bestselling sequel. This time, an expedition of scientists, businessmen and game hunters travels to the island where the dinosaurs of the first film were bred, with predictably terrifying results. Both more action-packed and more playful than its predecessor (with plenty of tributes to Howard Hawks and HATARI!), this is one of those rare sequels that equals and at times even surpasses the original. [35mm]
JURASSIC PARK III, 2001, Universal, 92 min. Dir. Joe Johnston. Bizarre and wealthy thrill-seekers Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) convince Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) to travel with them to Isla Sorna, the second InGen dinosaur lab. An unexpected plane landing finds the party in the midst of creatures unknown - and lethal - to the lab workers. Things go completely haywire when Dr. Grant discovers massive Velociraptor nests, and vicious dinosaur mothers willing to protect their young at any cost. [35mm]
