'Distant Sex' is a story of subliminal love acted in a straightjacket. The actors explore a dialogue of erotic literature in the form of a poetic system, which cues gestures and intonation. The inflection of the actors' speech, musicality of language, poetry, and guitar music, based upon the actors' movements, explore the ideas of sexuality, culture and madness. A unique aspect of the production is that this distant encounter uses the installation from the current exhibition at Exit Art. The action takes place on a 60 x 8 foot table exemplifying the symbiotic relationship among space, stage, theater and visual arts. The audience is encouraged to walk around the table during the performance to have a changing visual perspective. The poetic text of the dialogue is complemented by Flama music, an innovative approach that uses live music, performed by the director, to follow and lead the actors in their dialogue.
