Tribute to Walt Disney Weekend at Playland-Not-At-The-Beach! August 22, 2009

On Saturday and Sunday, August 22nd and 23rd, Playland-Not-At-The-Beach is hosting A Tribute to the Genius of Walt Disney. We will be sharing the story of Walt's life and the influences that led to the creation of the world's greatest theme parks and some of the most beloved movies of all time.
The San Francisco Bay Area Disneyana Club will be hosting their annual party at Playland, and while this event is a members only event, the festivities that we have planned will last all weekend long! And as a special treat, we will be offering a Sneak Peek look at a brand new exhibit of Walt Disney collectibles features hundreds of figurines from children's favorite movies of all time. You can compete in our Geography Quiz featuring figures from the Small World ride. You will be amazed at the miniature version of Main Street USA complete with a moving train. You can also try your hand at our fairy tale Princesses and Villains Quiz.

The special events of A Tribute to the Genius of Walt Disney are in addition to all of Playland's regular attractions. Guests pay one low price to enter and can play all day: $10 for children and seniors, and $15 for general admission. Playland-Not-at-the-Beach is a nonprofit Museum of Fun. Designed and built entirely by volunteers, the 20+ interactive exhibits celebrate the magic and history of America's bygone amusements -- circuses, carnivals, magic, sides shows, penny arcades, amusement devices, pinball arcades, haunted houses, and beautiful art everywhere. Our goal is to educate newer generations about the bygone days and allow those who remember Whitney's Playland and the Sutro Baths the opportunity to recapture the glorious sights and sounds of that marvelous era.
